Leesburg, Va. – May 15, 2024 – 100WomenStrong announces grants of $639,000 to 51 nonprofits headquartered or providing services in Loudoun County bringing its total funding to more than $4.6 million since 2009.  Grants focus on the areas of shelter, health, mental health, hunger and education.

This week at a grant reception for 100WomenStrong’s nonprofit recipients, government and community partners, 100WomenStrong Founder and President Karen Schaufeld emphasized, “for our community to thrive, we all need to participate; it’s collaborative, not competitive.”  Attendees were encouraged by Schaufeld to remember, “Small acts, when multiplied by many, can make a huge impact.”

Established in 2008 by Karen Schaufeld and 12 other founding members, 100WomenStrong gave their first two grants in 2009 for a total of $28,600.  Presently, the group has grown to 68 members.  Membership will be capped at 100.

“100WomenStrong is always looking for new members to become participants in helping our community of Loudoun to thrive.   With more members, our giving circle of concerned philanthropists can do more for Loudoun,” said Pam Ray, 100WS Managing Director.

Eligibility for membership includes the ability to make an annual contribution of $10,000.  Both individual (women and men) and corporate memberships are welcomed.  Donations are tax deductible and can be paid annually, semi-annually, quarterly or monthly.
